The coarsening of dialogue with the US Presidential candidates, Trump & Clinton
is of broad and global consequence. The potential for adverse impacts in the world economy and nuclear safety is of unimaginable consequence.
How to vote wisely is not only important, it may well impact six billions souls who live on our tiny planet.
The impact the presidential candidates may have on the safety and security of the international nuclear inventory believed still to be in excess of 6000 warheads with one of the Presidential Candidates advocating further proliferation arming Japan, South Korea, Saudi Arabia undeniably would leave the world economy and world population everywhere, and in the USA in double trouble .
How to vote wisely , at the end of the day is likely the most important decision we can make with these presidential candidates and we must, unequivocally and unambiguously get it right on the first try as it is an apple for which we have only one bite.
ISIS was spawned from the vacuum of an Iraq, Syria and Yemen whose infrastructure and hierarchical autocracy was fragmented, decimated or set on the run.
Donald Trump, a virulent misogynist racist, similarly, gained his power and voice from the elements of the Tea Party arising from the Republican party whose mainstream policy included, misogyny, racism, and a studied indifference for the social safety net with self-interest and power. Like ISIS , the real concentrating interest for the coalescence of these virulent and hated concentrations of power has been the anger, frustration and powerlessness of large swaths of populace which by design or mistake, cannot be seen as unwitting, unanticipated, anomalous events in the history of mankind with no antecedent roots.
Both phenomena, Trump and ISIS , like Hitler’s Germany, the evolutionary development of Tyrannosaurus Rex, the unintended impacts on climate by the industrial revolution, are absolutely the nearly predictable, evolutionary outcomes reflective of the absence of safety, the scarce allocation of resource, the disenfranchisement of large populations and the ever present Darwinian fact that vacuums in feeding chains, power structures and resource will inevitably produce consumers or omnivores to fill and opportunistically replace the then open space.
If ISIS is really US and Past is Prologue , there can be no mistake, neither Trump nor ISIS is or has been a mistake. They are the residue of a tide of anger, hatred, racism and violence endemic to and borne out of the natural, though frightful aspects of some of the darker and ancient threads of our human Psyche.
The questions asked should more likely be not if they, ISIS and Trump are mistakes, rather what have we done, what do we do as a society to ensure their presence remains marginal and does not carry and careen five thousand years of civilization off the edge of an unforgiving cliff.
